NCP brings protest rally over attack on Nasiruddin Patwari

Leaders and activists of the National Citizen Party (NCP) staged a protest march in the capital in condemnation of the attack on the party’s Chief Coordinator, Nasiruddin Patwari, in Jhenaidah.
The protest march began on Friday (May 22) afternoon in front of the National Press Club. Several top leaders of the party, including NCP spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, were seen participating in the procession.
The party alleged that activists of the BNP, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, and Jubo Dal were responsible for the attack on Nasiruddin Patwari.
Earlier, around 2:00 PM, an incident involving egg and brick-throwing and an attack on Nasiruddin Patwari took place in front of the Old Collectorate Mosque in Jhenaidah. At least six people were injured in the incident.
Eyewitnesses said that after Friday prayers, Nasiruddin Patwari was leaving the mosque when Sahed Ahmed, convener of the Islamic University unit of Chhatra Dal, approached him to speak. During the conversation, several youths standing behind Sahed Ahmed allegedly threw eggs targeting Patwari.
This led to a scuffle and clashes between the two sides. Several local NCP activists were injured. Later, NCP leaders and activists held demonstrations.
Nasiruddin Patwari alleged that supporters of Law Minister and Jhenaidah BNP President Abdul Majid carried out the attack.
“They threw eggs at us. Three to four of our people were injured. We will seek justice for this disgraceful attack. We demand the resignation of the Law Minister. If the law and order situation is this poor even in the Law Minister’s own area, then there is no need for him to remain a minister,” he said.
