BSF firing leaves Bangladeshi farmer injured along Kushtia border

A Bangladeshi farmer was injured when the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) opened fire along Jamalpur border in Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia on Saturday (10 October) morning.
The injured farmer is Sajul Hossain, 30, son of Sabaj Hossain of Jamalpur village.
The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. near main border pillar 152/10-S along the Jamalpur border.
According to locals, Sajul was cutting grass near the zero line when a patrol team from BSF's 146 Battalion opened fire, leaving him injured.
A regular BGB patrol from Jamalpur BOP swiftly took position and returned fire in self-defense and to safeguard local residents, said a press release from 47 BGB Battalion.
Patrols and surveillance have been intensified, with high alert declared along the border.
Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB) Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Rashed Kamal Roni said the injured farmer was rescued and sent to a hospital while BGB personnel are monitoring the situation on site.
Daulatpur Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Touhid Hasan Tuhin said, Sajul received primary treatment at Daulatpur Upazila Health Complex before being transferred to Kushtia General Hospital.
Meanwhile, local residents claimed to have detained an Indian citizen following the incident, though BGB officials have not confirmed the claim, stating details will be provided after investigation.
