Clash erupts over DNCC's eviction drive at Mirpur-10

A tense situation has raised over an eviction drive conducted by the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on pavements in the Mirpur-10 area of Dhaka.

Sources said a sudden fire broke out during the eviction drive, triggering agitation among the vendors. The agitated vendors allegedly set fire to three waste-carrying vehicles belonging to the city corporation and vandalized an excavator and a police vehicle at the scene.

Police fired tear gas shells at the agitated vendors, while the vendors responded by throwing pieces of brick at the police.

Upon receiving information, two units of the Fire Service and Civil Defence rushed to the spot to bring the fire under control.

The vendors took to the streets in front of Mirpur Ideal School, while police took position at the Mirpur-10 circle.
