Urgent warning for Malaysia-bound workers and recruiting agencies

The Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment has issued an urgent warning for workers intending to go to Malaysia and the recruiting agencies involved in the migration process.
In the notice, the ministry strictly instructed all concerned not to engage in any financial transactions, sign contracts, or undergo medical examinations until an official announcement is made by the government.
The information was disclosed in a press release signed by Md. Shariful Islam, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, on Wednesday (July 8).
According to the notice, no individual or organization should communicate with any party or conduct any financial transaction related to employment in Malaysia until the ministry officially announces the reopening of the worker recruitment process.
The ministry also urged all prospective workers to refrain from undergoing any medical tests or making any payments for such purposes before the official recruitment process begins.
Recruiting agencies have been instructed not to enter into any agreements with prospective Malaysia-bound workers until the government issues an official notification. They have also been strictly directed not to collect passports, arrange medical examinations, or receive any payments from workers under the pretext of sending them to Malaysia.
The notice further requested anyone seeking information or wishing to lodge complaints regarding employment in Malaysia to contact the Probashi Call Centre at 16135 (from within Bangladesh) or +8809610102030 (from abroad).
In addition, people may directly contact the ministry's Malaysia focal point officer, Md. Hedayetul Islam Mondol, by telephone at 02-41030241, via email at dsemployment1@probashi.gov.bd, or by mobile at 01716048115.
