PM apologizes for power crisis, promises solution within days

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has apologized for the ongoing power crisis, saying the electricity and gas shortages will be resolved within the next few days.

The prime minister made the remarks while distributing donations among underprivileged people at the Korail T&T playground in Mohakhali, Dhaka, on Saturday (August 15), marking the birth anniversary of late Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

Tarique Rahman said some political parties were trying to create anarchy by carrying out sabotage related to electricity supply.

He said the government was working to resolve the gas crisis and had already reduced technical faults in the power sector.

“We will soon get rid of the power crisis,” he said.

Criticising the opposition, the prime minister urged them to present their plans within three months.

He said democracy would ensure accountability in the country and create opportunities for development.

Tarique Rahman also said the distribution of school uniforms would begin within the next month.

He added that all 50-bed upazila health complexes would soon be upgraded to 100-bed hospitals.
