Bangla Edition website resumes operations after BTRC restrictions lifted

After a long wait, the website of online news portal Bangla Edition (www.banglaedition.com) has resumed operations. On Sunday (6 September), it was allowed to resume access by the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).
Following instructions from the relevant authorities under the Ministry of Information, technical restrictions imposed on the portal by the BTRC have been lifted. As a result, Bangla Edition website can now be accessed using mobile operator data as well.
Previously it was not possible to access the website on mobile internet data, but it could be accessed on broadband internet. Following the withdrawal of technical restrictions by the BTRC, the Bangla Edition website is now functioning normally on mobile internet data as well.
On the same day, the Bangla Edition's main Facebook page also gained access back. This had been unavailable since June 16 due to technical issues. After communicating with Facebook authorities and completing necessary procedures, the page was restored on Sunday.
With the restoration of its website and social media page, Bangla Edition can now resume normal news operations on both.
Previously, on December 22, 2025, the registration of Bangla Edition (www.banglaedition.com) was suspended on the decision of the then interim government. The Bangla Edition authorities then applied to the relevant authorities to restore the registration.
Following the application, the Ministry of Information issued a notification on August 20 announcing its decision to reinstate Bangla Edition's registration.
With the Ministry of Information restoring its registration and the BTRC lifting technical restrictions, online news portal Bangla Edition (www.banglaedition.com) has now resumed its news operations on both its website and Facebook page.
