8 More children died with measles-like symptoms across Bangladesh in the last 24 hours, while 1,086 suspected and confirmed cases were recorded during the same period.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) revealed it in a press release issued by its control room on Saturday (10 October).

The statement said 955 new suspected measles cases were reported in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 203,848 since March 15.

During the same period, another 131 laboratory-confirmed cases were recorded raising the increasing number of confirmed infections to 22,328.

The data showed that a total of 180,945 patients with measles-like symptoms were admitted to hospitals across the country between March 15 and October 10.

Among them, 173,454 recovered and were released.

The data showed that eight deaths among patients with suspected measles during the past 24 hours, taking the cumulative number of suspected measles-related deaths to 1,051.

Meanwhile, no deaths from laboratory-confirmed measles were reported during the period. The total number of confirmed measles deaths since March 15 remained at 104, as per the DGHS data.
