Rewards offered for information on looted firearms: Home Minister

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has announced rewards ranging from Tk 10,000 to Tk 2 lakh for anyone providing information that helps recover looted firearms.

“If anyone provides information about the looted firearms, they will be rewarded with Tk 10,000 to Tk 2 lakh,” he said.

The home minister also said a separate specialised unit has been formed within the police to recover the looted weapons.

Salahuddin Ahmed made the remarks while speaking to journalists after a meeting with senior officers of Bangladesh Police on the law and order situation at the Rajarbagh Police Auditorium in the capital on Saturday

(29 August).

During the meeting, senior police officials highlighted the force’s activities to curb crime and raised various issues, including the need for equipment to enhance the technological capabilities of the police.

The home minister said the government would consider the demands raised by the law enforcement agency and provide necessary assistance to ensure law and order.

He also said the government had issued necessary directives to the police to maintain normal law and order.

Replying to questions from journalists after the meeting, Salahuddin Ahmed said the law and order situation would improve further.

He said law enforcement agencies had been directed to perform their duties more actively to improve the situation.
