PM mourns death of former Deputy Minister Abdul Hai

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Thursday (15 October) expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of former Deputy Minister, five-time Member of Parliament (MP) and veteran BNP leader Abdul Hai.
In a message of condolence, the Prime Minister described Abdul Hai as a dedicated politician with unwavering faith in democracy and a proven soldier of nationalist ideals.
He said Abdul Hai had played an important role in strengthening and consolidating the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
“His contributions in uniting grassroots leaders and activists and strengthening the party’s ties with the people would be ever remembered,” he added.
Tarique Rahman said Abdul Hai had been a trusted leader on the streets during various anti-autocracy and anti-fascist movements in the country.
His firm stance and political contributions to restoring democracy, establishing people's voting rights and resisting autocracy would continue to inspire BNP leaders and activists, he said.
“With Abdul Hai’s death, the BNP has lost an experienced, dedicated and a principled leader... His death is an irreparable loss to nationalist politics in the country,” the Prime Minister said.
He prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed his deep condolences to the bereaved family members, relatives, political colleagues and well-wishers.
He also prayed to Almighty Allah to grant Abdul Hai a place in Jannatul Ferdous.
