Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain has said that Bangladesh still lags behind in accurately diagnosing patients' illnesses.

He made the remarks on Sunday (July 5) while speaking as the chief guest at a seminar titled "High Technology in Healthcare" held at the Senate Building of the University of Dhaka.

The minister noted that patients in the country's remote and underserved areas are still not receiving proper healthcare services. "The government wants to improve this situation as quickly as possible. That is why the allocation for the health sector has been doubled in this year's budget," he said.

Referring to the government's ongoing efforts to combat dengue and the current situation in hospitals, Sakhawat Hossain said that some hospitals have reached a point where 30 to 40 dengue patients are being treated in a single room.

In light of the evolving situation, the Health Minister instructed doctors and nurses engaged in combating dengue and measles to carry out their duties with greater patience, dedication, and sincerity.
