Government to take effective steps to contain bus fare: Information Adviser

The government will take effective measures to contain bus fares amid the increase in fuel oil prices, said Prime Minister’s Information and Broadcast Adviser Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman.

The adviser said this on Tuesday (22 September) while talking to the media at the Secretariat about the progress of different government programmes.

Dr. Zahed said energy prices have increased in the country due to different reasons, including the Middle East crisis and the Russia-Ukraine war.

“While the government has kept monitoring so that pressure might not be created on the people and the people might not suffer for this reason,” he said.

The adviser said the government will take effective measures to control bus fares.

Regarding the gas-well drilling issue, the adviser said the government has initiated efforts to drill six new gas wells by 2030. Besides, it has a plan to drill nine more gas wells in different locations.

Regarding the purchase of Boeing aircraft, Dr. Zahed said, “Bangladesh is going to purchase Boeing” is information published in the media.

“I have no firm information about the prime minister’s meeting or any programme with the Boeing company during this UNGA tour,” he said.

He, however, said, “But a memorandum of understanding on purchasing Boeing may be signed.”
