Four arrested with firearms while preparing for buffalo robbery

Coast Guard members have arrested four alleged robbers along with firearms, domestic weapons and engine-driven boats while they were preparing for a buffalo robbery in Doulatkhan upazila of Bhola.

The raid was conducted on Thursday (10 September) between 4am and 8am in the Char Neyamatpur area of the upazila, Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon said.

The arrestees were identified as Koysor Majhi and his son Md. Apon, both from Charpata area in Daulatkhan; Md. Mofiz Khonkar from Bhabanipur area; and Kobir Panchayat from Bhola Sadar upazila.

According to the Coast Guard, a special patrol team conducted the operation based on intelligence regarding an impending buffalo robbery in the Neyamatpur area.

During a search of the robbers' hideout, Coast Guard personnel seized two local firearms, two rounds of live ammunition, two blank cartridges, four local weapons and three engine-driven wooden boats.

Sujon said that the detainees have been involved in various terrorist and robbery activities in the coastal region for a long time, adding that legal proceedings against them are currently underway.
