Three more children died from measles and measles-like symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours, while 1,061 others were affected by the disease and related symptoms.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) revealed the information in its latest update on Tuesday (August 18).

According to the DGHS report, three more children died with measles-like symptoms during the period. However, no new deaths from confirmed measles were recorded.

With the latest fatalities, the death toll from measles-like symptoms has risen to 819 since March this year. During the same period, 99 children died from confirmed measles, taking the combined death toll from measles and measles-like symptoms to 918.

The DGHS data showed that 59 children were diagnosed with measles in the last 24 hours, while 1,002 others were affected by measles-like symptoms.

Meanwhile, 903 children were admitted to hospitals with measles and related symptoms, while 967 were discharged from health facilities after recovery during the same period.

According to the DGHS, a total of 1,44,780 children have been recorded as suspected measles patients since March, while 17,989 have been confirmed to have measles. Of them, 1,26,289 patients were admitted to hospitals, while 1,21,880 have been discharged after recovery.
