Fire breaks out at multi-storey building in Dhaka

A fire broke out at Ahmed Tower, a multi-storey building next to FR Tower in Banani of the capital on Saturday afternoon.

Two units of the Fire Service and Civil Defence rushed to the spot and began efforts to bring the fire under control.

The fire broke out at around 5:30pm on Saturday (26 September).

Rojina Akter, duty officer at the Fire Service headquarters’ control room, confirmed the incident.

She said the fire service received information about the fire at around 5:36pm and immediately sent two units to the 26-storey building.

The cause of the fire could not be determined immediately. No information about any casualties was available at the time of filing the report.
