Renowned Bangladeshi writer, researcher, and academic Professor Abul Kashem Fazlul Haque has passed away. He breathed his last on Sunday (July 5) after suffering a cardiac arrest.

The news of his death was confirmed by his daughter-in-law, Rajia Rahman.

Professor Haque was widely regarded as one of Bangladesh's most distinguished intellectuals, known for his extensive contributions to Bengali literature, literary criticism, cultural studies, and social thought. Throughout his long academic career, he remained a respected voice in the country's intellectual landscape, inspiring generations of students, researchers, and readers through his scholarship and writings.

Born in 1944, Abul Kashem Fazlul Haque served as a professor in the Department of Bangla at the University of Dhaka. His academic work focused on Bengali language and literature, history, philosophy, nationalism, and the cultural development of Bangladesh. He authored numerous books and research publications that explored the country's literary heritage, society, and political thought.

Beyond academia, Professor Haque was recognized for his independent and analytical views on contemporary social and national issues.
