No reason to speculate over RAW chief’s Dhaka visit: Adviser

Prime Minister’s Information and Broadcasting Adviser Dr Zahed Ur Rahman has said there is no reason to speculate over the visit of Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) chief Parag Jain to Dhaka.

“The RAW chief has come to Dhaka after visiting China. It is part of regular official activities. There is nothing to create rumours over the visit,” he said.

The adviser said the government may issue a statement after Jain’s visit.

He made the remarks at a press briefing on the progress of various government activities.

Earlier on Sunday (August 9), a four-member RAW delegation led by Jain arrived in Dhaka at the invitation of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI).

The other members of the delegation are Aswin Mukund Kotnis, Rahul Negi and Shaibal Roy Chowdhury.

A diplomatic source said the RAW team’s visit is part of regular official engagements, noting that DGFI officials also frequently visit India.

Replying to a query, Dr Zahed Ur Rahman said SSC examinees had previously been awarded additional marks improperly. “Now, after coming to power, the BNP is trying to ensure that marks are awarded properly,” he said.

Responding to another question, he said students would be allowed to visit the July Memorial Museum free of charge once a week.
