Maj Gen (retd) Mohiuddin arrested in New Guinea Properties vandalism case

Major General (retd) Golam Mohiuddin Chowdhury has been arrested in a case filed over an attack, vandalism and looting at the New Guinea Properties project in the capital’s ECB Chattar area.

A team of the Detective Branch’s Gulshan division arrested Mohiuddin from a residence in Segunbagicha area of the capital on Wednesday

(30 September) afternoon.

Earlier, on the night of 26 September, an attack and vandalism took place at the New Guinea Properties project. The studio of content creator Aslam Muqtadir, along with several other establishments, was also vandalised during the incident.

Following the incident, Md Saiful Islam Bhuiyan, director of New Guinea Properties, filed a case with Cantonment Police Station, accusing 150 to 200 unidentified and named individuals.

Mohiuddin was listed as accused No. 4 in the case, which named 13 accused individuals.

During the preliminary investigation, police found that Mohiuddin had disputes with New Guinea Properties over land, according to police sources.

The disputes reportedly centred on the use of a road and 35 kathas of land, according to various reports.

Police have already arrested several people in connection with the case.

As part of the ongoing investigation, police are working to identify and arrest others allegedly involved in the attack and vandalism.
