President calls for politics of compromise
President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called the political parties to shun conflicts and to start politics of compromise for further progress of the country.
The president said it while addressing a reception programme in Thakurgaon government boys school playground on Sunday (6 September).
The president said, “We don’t want to see any conflict and clash in Thakurgaon. We want of politics of mutual respect and compromise across the country.”
“We want to support those who will work for the people. No communal divisions we want to see anymore in the country,” he said.
He asked the political parties to avoid the path of clash and solve every disputes through discussions.
The President arrived Thakurgaon on Sunday at around 1 PM on a two-day visit by an air force helicopter. The helicopter carrying President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir landed at Mohammad Ali Stadium in Thakurgaon.
President’s spouse Rahat Ara Begum, accompanied him.
At the helipad, President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was welcomed by convener of the Citizens’ Reception Committee Dr Khairul Kabir, president of Thakurgaon district BNP Mirza Faisal Amin, General Secretary Poygam Ali, President of Thakurgaon district BNP Mahila Dal Faratun Nahar Paris and senior government officials.
Later, a smartly turned out contingent of Bangladesh Police accorded the President a guard of honour at Thakurgaon Circuit House.
After inspecting the guard, the President went to Senua Cemetery to pay his respects at the graves of his parents.
After offering prayers at his parents' graves and participating in a munajat, he met with worshippers at a nearby mosque and inquired about their well-being.
The President later went to his residence in Thakurgaon town.
According to the programme schedule, President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will attend a citizens’ reception at the Boromath of Thakurgaon Government Boys High School at 3:30 pm today.
On the second day of his visit tomorrow, he will lay the foundation stone of Thakurgaon University.
