Khalilur, Ariful, Shama mourn 16 Bangladeshis killed in Riyadh fire

Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman, Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam separately have expressed deep sorrow and earnest condolences over the deaths of 16 Bangladeshi nationals in a tragic factory fire in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The three ministers expressed their deepest sympathy to the bereaved family members of the deceased and assured them of support during this time of irreparable loss and grief, said separate press releases on Monday (10 August).

The 16 Bangladeshis lost their lives in a devastating fire that broke out at a sofa manufacturing factory in Riyadh on Sunday.

Shortly after receiving information about the blaze incident, officials of the Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh rushed to the scene, the foreign ministry said.

The embassy is closely coordinating with the local Saudi authorities to detect the deceased and complete necessary procedures on these regards.
