Third terminal of HSIA to be inaugurated on 16 December

The much-awaited third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) will be inaugurated on 16 December this year, marking Bangladesh’s Victory Day, Civil Aviation Minister Rashiduzzaman Millat has said.

The minister made the announcement on Tuesday (8 September) while speaking to journalists after inspecting the terminal.

“The formal operation of the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport will commence on 16 December. Twenty aircraft will operate from the terminal on the first day,” the minister said.

Rashiduzzaman Millat said 27 percent of the terminal’s earnings would go to Bangladesh. Besides, 50 percent of the ground-handling responsibilities would be handed over to Biman Bangladesh Airlines, he said.

The minister also said the terminal would become fully operational by May 2027.
