Fresh fighting in Myanmar's Rakhine State, adjacent to the Teknaf border, has raised concerns over a possible new influx of Rohingya refugees into Bangladesh. However, Foreign Affairs Adviser Khalilur Rahman has said that the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) is on maximum alert along the frontier.

Speaking to reporters at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday (July 5), Khalilur Rahman said the government is closely monitoring the situation.

The Myanmar military has intensified its offensive against the Arakan Army in border areas, causing concern among Bangladeshi residents living along the frontier. The renewed conflict has also heightened fears of another wave of Rohingya entering Bangladesh.

Asked whether the government had taken any measures to address the situation, Khalilur Rahman said, "We are closely monitoring developments along the border. The BGB is on high alert along the Ukhia–Teknaf frontier to prevent any Rohingya infiltration. Border surveillance has also been strengthened."

When asked by a journalist about media reports claiming that the commander of the Arakan Army had received medical treatment in Bangladesh and whether the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had any information on the matter, Khalilur Rahman replied, "I have no information on this matter."
