Seven autorickshaw passengers, including child, killed as bus overturns rickshaw in Mymensingh

Seven passengers of an autorickshaw, including a child, were killed after a bus collided with the three-wheeler in Mymensingh on Friday (2 October).

The accident took place around 1:30pm on the Akua-Bypass Road in the Gondrapa area of the city.

The deceased included three men, three women and a child. Their identities could not be confirmed immediately.

According to local sources, a Rajib Paribahan bus was heading towards Dhaka when it reached the Akua-Bypass area. At that time, the autorickshaw was coming from the opposite direction, resulting in a head-on collision.

The autorickshaw was completely wrecked in the collision, and all seven passengers died on the spot.

Md Julhas Uddin, station officer of Mymensingh Sadar Fire Service, said they rushed to the spot after receiving information and recovered the bodies of the seven victims.

Mohammad Shibirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Mymensingh Sadar Police Station, said police were trying to determine the cause of the accident and identify the deceased.
