ACC to take action against former president Chuppu after new commission formed

Action will be taken against immediate past President Mohammed Shahabuddin Chuppu after a new commission is formed at the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), said ACC Secretary Saidur Rahman Khan.
The ACC secretary made the remarks on Wednesday (August 12) in response to questions from journalists about a recent allegation filed against Shahabuddin.
“Currently, there is no commission at the ACC. Such allegations are normally processed through the commission,” he said.
“We are optimistic that the new commission will be formed soon. Necessary action will then be taken after discussing the matter,” Saidur Rahman added.
An allegation was filed with the ACC on Monday (August 10) against Shahabuddin, S Alam and 36 others over an alleged embezzlement of Tk500 crore from Islami Bank.
Mohammad Yasin Ali, assistant vice-president of Islami Bank’s Foreign Exchange Corporate Branch, submitted the allegation on behalf of the bank.
