Hanged body of MP Gazi Nazrul’s 2nd wife recovered

The hanged body of Satkhira-4 constituency MP Gazi Nazrul Islam’s second wife was recovered from a NAM flat in the capital on Sunday (20 September).

The deceased, Mariam Khatun, 19, was found hanging at the MP’s government residence, NAM Building-5, in a flat on the 2nd floor.

Law enforcement agencies reached the spot in the evening.

A video of a private moment involving Jamaat MP Gazi Nazrul and a young girl went viral last July.

Later, the young girl was identified as Mariam Khatun, and Gazi Nazrul claimed her as his second wife.

The issue drew widespread criticism across the country. At one stage, Jamaat-e-Islami expelled him from the party.
