Gold prices reduces again

Gold and silver prices have been reduced once again in the domestic market. The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has lowered the retail price of gold jewellery, including VAT, by up to Tk 3,323 per bhori. The new rates took effect from 10:00 am on Thursday (July 9).
In a statement, BAJUS said the decision was taken at a meeting of its Standing Committee on Price Determination and Price Monitoring held at 9:00 am.
Under the revised price list, the price of 22-carat gold jewellery—the highest-quality standard—has been set at Tk 221,966 per bhori (11.664 grams), including VAT. Until Wednesday, the same category was selling at Tk 225,290 per bhori.
The new prices for other categories are:
21-carat gold: Tk 211,993 per bhori
18-carat gold: Tk 182,075 per bhori
Traditional-method gold: Tk 148,774 per bhori
Alongside gold, BAJUS has also reduced silver prices. Under the new rates:
22-carat silver: Tk 4,607 per bhori
21-carat silver: Tk 4,374 per bhori
18-carat silver: Tk 3,791 per bhori
Traditional-method silver: Tk 2,858 per bhori
Previously, BAJUS revised gold prices on July 6, when it reduced the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 3,266 per bhori, setting the VAT-inclusive rate at Tk 225,290.
At that time, the prices were fixed at:
21-carat gold: Tk 215,142 per bhori
18-carat gold: Tk 184,758 per bhori
Traditional-method gold: Tk 150,932 per bhori
With the latest revision, gold prices have been adjusted 88 times in the domestic market so far this year. Of these, prices were increased 43 times, reduced 44 times, while one adjustment was made to VAT.
Silver prices have been adjusted 54 times this year, with 27 increases and 27 reductions.
