Gold prices rise again

The Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (BAJUS) has revised the prices of gold and silver in the local market following an increase in the prices of pure gold and pure silver. The association has announced new rates, inclusive of VAT.
According to a BAJUS press release issued on Monday (July 27), the revised prices took effect from 10:00 a.m. the same day.
Based on the decision of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring, the new price of 22-carat hallmark gold has been set at Tk223,074 per bhori (11.664 grams), including VAT.
The revised prices for other categories of gold are:
21-carat gold: Tk213,043 per bhori
18-carat gold: Tk182,950 per bhori
Traditional-method gold: Tk149,474 per bhori
Under the new price list, the rates for silver are:
22-carat hallmark silver: Tk4,666 per bhori
21-carat silver: Tk4,549 per bhori
18-carat silver: Tk3,907 per bhori
Traditional-method silver: Tk2,974 per bhori
BAJUS said the revised prices will remain effective at all jewelry stores across the country until further notice. However, making charges will vary depending on the design of the jewelry. As VAT is already included in the selling price of gold and silver ornaments, customers cannot be charged VAT separately.
