The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has announced another reduction in gold prices in the country’s market.

The price of gold ornaments, including VAT, has been reduced by up to Tk 4,474 per bhori.

The new gold prices came into effect at 10am on Monday (31August).

According to a BAJUS notice, the decision to revise the prices was taken at a meeting of its Standing Committee on Price Determination and Price Monitoring at 9am on Monday (31August).

As per the new price list, the price of one bhori (11.664 grams) of the highest-quality 22-carat gold ornaments, including VAT, has been set at Tk 236,254.

Meanwhile, the price of one bhori of 21-carat gold has been reduced by Tk 4,141 to Tk 225,640.

The price of one bhori of 18-carat gold has been cut by Tk 3,616 to Tk 193,739.

The price of one bhori of traditional-method gold has been reduced by Tk 2,916 to Tk 158,280.

Earlier, on August 29, the price of one bhori of high-quality gold was reduced by Tk 7,115. Before that, the price of one bhori of high-quality gold was raised by a total of Tk 10,964 in three phases on August 20, 22 and 25.

With the latest reduction, the price of one bhori of high-quality gold has fallen by a total of Tk 11,489 in two rounds.
