After increasing in two consecutive revisions, gold prices in Bangladesh have been reduced. The price of 22-carat gold has been cut by Tk 3,324 per bhori, bringing the new price to Tk 220,858 per bhori (11.664 grams), including VAT. The new rates took effect from 10:00 am on Friday.

The information was announced by the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) in a statement issued on Friday morning.

According to the statement, the price of pure gold (acid gold) in the local market has declined. Considering the overall market situation, BAJUS has revised gold prices accordingly.

Under the new price list, including VAT:

22-carat gold: Tk 220,858 per bhori (11.664 grams)

21-carat gold: Tk 210,943 per bhori

18-carat gold: Tk 181,200 per bhori

Traditional-method gold: Tk 148,016 per bhori

BAJUS said the revised prices will remain effective at all jewellery shops until further notice. However, making charges will vary depending on the design of the jewellery.

The association also clarified that since VAT is already included in the selling price of gold and silver jewellery, retailers are not allowed to collect VAT separately from customers.

It further stated that the existing BAJUS rules regarding the exchange and purchase of jewellery—excluding specific VAT, making charges, and the value of stones—will remain unchanged.

Previously, BAJUS revised gold prices on July 22 (Wednesday), increasing the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 2,741 to Tk 224,182 per bhori, including VAT.

Silver Prices Also Reduced

Alongside gold, BAJUS has also lowered silver prices in the domestic market.

The new silver prices per bhori (including VAT) are:

22-carat silver: Tk 4,607 (down by Tk 175)

21-carat silver: Tk 4,374

18-carat silver: Tk 3,791

Traditional-method silver: Tk 2,858
