Warning signal number 3 for all seaports

Under the influence of the deep depression in the Bay of Bengal, squally winds are likely to affect the coastal areas of the country. Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number 3.

This information was given in a special notification number 2 of the Meteorological Department on Monday (July 27).

According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon depression over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal-Odisha coasts has intensified further into a deep depression.

The deep depression lay centred 425 km west-southwest of Chattogram seaport, 430 km west of Cox's Bazar, 220 km west-southwest of Mongla seaport and 260 km west-southwest of Payra seaport.

It is likely to move in a north-northwesterly direction and cross the West Bengal-Odisha coast by Monday evening, the Meteorological Department said.

The maximum sustained wind speed is 50 kilometers per hour within 48 kilometers of the deep depression center. The speed is increasing up to 60 kilometers per hour during gusty or gusty winds. Under its influence, the sea is rough near the deep depression.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with utmost caution until further notice.

At the same time, the Meteorological Department has instructed fishing boats and trawlers to stay in safe shelters.
