Train services on Dhaka–Cox’s Bazar route suspends as rail tracks go underwater

Train services on the Dhaka–Cox’s Bazar route have been suspended after continuous heavy rainfall submerged sections of the railway track.
The suspension took effect from 12:40 pm on Tuesday (July 7), railway authorities said.
According to railway sources, excessive rainfall caused flooding over the railway tracks near Jan Alihat Station in Chattogram, making the route unsafe for train operations.
As a result, the Paryatak Express (816), bound for Cox’s Bazar, has been stranded near Jan Alihat Station after leaving Sholoshahar Station, as floodwater has covered the tracks ahead.
The sudden disruption has left hundreds of passengers on the Paryatak Express and other trains on the route stranded, causing severe inconvenience. Women and children have been particularly affected by the unexpected halt and the suspension of rail communication.
