Training on sustainable livelihoods for climate-affected women

With the aim of developing climate-affected and migration-prone women as entrepreneurs and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities, Nari Unnayan Shakti (NUS) and Young Women for Development Rights and Climate (YWDRC) jointly organized a training programme on 21 August 2026 at the Nari Unnayan Shakti Training Centre.
The inaugural session of the training was chaired by Dr. Afroja Pravin, Executive Director of Nari Unnayan Shakti. Nusrat Sultana Afroj, Executive Chairperson of YWDRC, served as the Training Coordinator.
The training covered climate change impacts, climate-resilient small businesses, entrepreneurship development, alternative income opportunities, business planning, marketing, financial management, and sustainable livelihoods through both discussion and practical learning sessions.
The different sessions were facilitated by Dr. Afroja Pravin, Executive Director of Nari Unnayan Shakti; Abdul Momin, Project Coordinator; Selina Khatun, Field Officer; and Nusrat Sultana Afroj, Executive Chairperson of YWDRC.
After completing the training, participating women will be able to: Identify climate-resilient livelihood opportunities; Select and develop appropriate small-business ideas and plans; Prepare basic business budgets and maintain income and expenditure records; Select products and services based on local market demand; Develop knowledge of product marketing and customer management; Create new income opportunities by utilizing their skills; Develop the capacity to operate sustainable businesses considering climate-related risks and Utilize alternative livelihood and self-employment opportunities after migration. The overall objective of the training is to strengthen the self-reliance, entrepreneurial skills, and sustainable income-generating capacity of women facing climate and economic vulnerabilities.
