The information minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at a tree plantation program on both sides of the self-help canal in Barishal Sadar upazila on Sunday (July 27).

The minister said, "We are one of the countries of the world which are located on the sea coast. Bangladesh is one of the first countries to be flooded by global warming. Therefore, greening the country and planting trees, along with all other programmes, is no longer just a matter of producing cash crops; It is an indispensable responsibility to secure our future in the long term.

Zahir Uddin Swapan said that as challenging as the work of planting trees is, the bigger challenge is to ensure its care. That's why we are discussing a care plan involving the local people in the area where trees will be planted by the administration. If this project can be implemented beautifully, the whole nation will enjoy the benefits of this tree plantation.

Barisal Divisional Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, officials of different levels of administration, local farmers and locals were present on the occasion.
