Bachsas organises evening of poetry, cake and songs

When tradition and culture are slowly fading behind walls and the fast pace of city life, an evening that was full of music, words and real Bengali flavours of cake came together.
The Bangladesh Cholochitra Sangbadik Samity, known as Bachsas organized an event called "Poetry, Pitha (cake) and Songs: Honouring Eminent Personalities in Fellowship and Joy." Many poets, lyricists and Bachsas members joined without planning. The event became a lively celebration of Bengali culture.
The main attraction was the Bengali pitha puli. The sweet smell of kinds of pithas filled the hall and famous people left their busy city lives for a while and talked happily with each other.
The gathering then moved into a poetry session. Renowned poets went up on the stage one after another. Read some of their well known poems. The sound of their voices held the audience carrying them to another world.
While the poetry mood stayed the music session started. The whole hall came alive with songs written by well known lyricists.
At the event Bachsas poets and lyricists were honoured. The poets were Atahar Khan, Shihab Sarkar, Mahmud Shafik, Hasan Hafiz, Abdul Hai Shikdar, Shamima Chowdhury, Abdur Rahman, Hasnain Sajjadi, Dildar Hossain, Rezauddin Stalin, Shanta Maria, Dulal Khan Said Ahmed, Selina Shyuli and Dipankar Dipak.
The lyricists were Sahabuddin Majumdar, Zahid Akbar, Mahmud Manzur, Rabiul Islam Jibon, Rezaur Rahman Rizvi, Tarek Ananda, Omar Faruk and Ashik Bondhu. Singers Joy Shahriar, Kamruzzaman Rabbi, Nodi, Kazi Shuvo, Muhammad Milon, Raisa Khan, Abhi Talukdar and Kaniz Suborna made the audience happy by singing songs written by the lyricists. Members of the executive committee gave the awards to the winners.
More than the formal shows the real spirit of the festival was fellowship and joy. After years cultural people, from different areas met under one roof and showed how happy they were to meet again and celebrate together.
