Bangladeshi students have the opportunity to pursue a fully funded master's degree in the United States under the Fulbright Foreign Student Program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. The program offers scholarships to study at universities across the United States.

Applications are currently open for the Fall 2027 (September 2027) intake.

Fields of Study

The program supports master's degrees in a wide range of disciplines, including:

American Studies (American literature, history, politics, etc.)

Security Studies, including Defense and Military Studies

Energy

Pure Sciences

Technology

Engineering

Business

Social Sciences, such as International Relations, Public Administration, and Public Policy

Economics

Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL)

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following basic criteria:

Hold a four-year bachelor's degree from a recognized public or private university in Bangladesh.

Have an outstanding academic record.

Who Can Apply?

Applicants:

Must not have previously earned a degree from any college or university in the United States.

Must not hold a master's degree from any country other than Bangladesh.

However, applicants who have already completed a master's degree from a Bangladeshi university are still eligible to apply. In other words, even if you already have a master's degree from Bangladesh and wish to pursue another master's degree in the United States under this program, you may still apply.

Professional Experience

Applicants must:

Be free from the restrictions of Section 212(e) of the U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act. This means that anyone who previously participated in a U.S. government-funded exchange program must have completed the required home-country residency period before applying.

Have at least two years of professional work experience in the field they intend to study in the United States.

English Language Proficiency

Since the program is fully funded, applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English by achieving at least:

IELTS: Overall band score of 7.0, or

TOEFL iBT: Minimum score of 90

Application Process

Bangladeshi citizens must be physically present in Bangladesh when submitting their application. Applications cannot be submitted while residing in a third country.

Applicants must complete a full online application and submit all required documents, including three letters of reference.
