UCD-7 initiates shelter projects for homeless people

A delegation from the Urban Community Development (UCD-7) Committee under the Department of Social Services visited the Sadhupura Village Mosque area in Ashulia on Friday to assess the feasibility of establishing a shelter project for homeless and vulnerable people.
The delegation included UCD-7 Treasurer and Chief Executive Officer of Rainbow Aid Bangladesh K.M. Masud, UCD-7 Executive Member and SMASDO Chairman Akbar Hossain, Advocate Imrul Chowdhury, and SMASDO Advisory Committee Member Leena Lisa.
During the visit, the team inspected the proposed site, reviewed local conditions, and discussed the urgent need for a sustainable shelter that would provide safe accommodation and access to essential social services for disadvantaged families. They also exchanged views with local stakeholders on the project's potential social impact and future implementation.
As Rainbow Aid Bangladesh has long been involved in humanitarian and community development initiatives across the country, it has been committed to assist
including support for vulnerable communities, healthcare awareness, social welfare, and emergency relief activities. The organization has consistently collaborated with government agencies and community-based organizations to improve the living conditions of marginalized people.
If implemented, the proposed shelter project in Ashulia is expected to provide a secure environment for homeless and at-risk individuals while contributing to broader efforts to strengthen social protection and community welfare in the area.
