Fire breaks out in Old Dhaka's Chawk Bazar, six fire service units deploy

A fire has broken out at Ashik Tower in Khaja Market, located in the Chawk Bazar area of Old Dhaka. A total of six units from the Fire Service are working to bring the blaze under control.

The Fire Service and Civil Defence received the emergency call at 1:34 pm on Saturday (July 4).

The information was confirmed by Khaleda Yasmin, duty officer at the Fire Service control room.

She said the fire started on the third floor of Ashik Tower in Khaja Market, Chawk Bazar. Initially, two Fire Service units began firefighting operations at the scene, while four additional units were dispatched to assist.

The cause of the fire, the extent of the damage, and whether there have been any casualties were not immediately known.
