NCP calls nationwide protest rally today

The National Citizen Party (NCP) has announced nationwide protest rallies on Wednesday (July 29) in response to the attack on its procession in Habiganj.

The information was disclosed in a press release issued by the party's Office Cell.

According to the statement, the party strongly condemned the alleged terrorist attack by BNP activists on the convoy of NCP Chief Organizer Sarjis Alam and Chief Coordinator Nasir Uddin Patwari during the party's peaceful march in Habiganj. In protest, the party has decided to hold demonstrations across the country on July 29 (Wednesday).

The statement further said that all NCP metropolitan, district, upazila, and thana units have been instructed to organize protest rallies and demonstrations in their respective areas.

It also called on all organizational units to make the necessary preparations to ensure the programs are conducted successfully and in an orderly manner, while ensuring the timely participation of party leaders and activists.

Earlier, on Tuesday evening, the NCP alleged that activists of the local Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal launched a sudden attack on the convoy carrying Sarjis Alam and Nasir Uddin Patwari as they were returning after a march in front of the Town Hall in Habiganj. Several journalists and party leaders and activists were reportedly injured in the incident. Police later arrived at the scene and rescued those affected.

However, neither the BNP nor the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal had issued any immediate statement regarding the allegations at the time.
