Six districts, including Gopalganj, left out of NCP's July march campaign

The National Citizen Party (NCP) has announced a month-long "July March" program to mark the second anniversary of the July Mass Uprising.
The marches will begin on Monday (July 6). However, the announced route does not include six districts: Gopalganj, Narsingdi, Rajbari, Shariatpur, Sunamganj, and Rangamati.
At a press conference held on Saturday afternoon at the party's temporary central office, Sarjis Alam, NCP's Chief Organizer (Northern Region), announced that the July March would take place in 100 upazilas and municipalities across the country's 64 districts, under the slogan "Implement the Referendum, Ensure Employment, and Protect the Borders."
Sarjis Alam said:
"After the launch of the NCP, we organized the July March in July 2025, centering on district headquarters in all 64 districts. This year as well, the NCP is organizing the July March. The march will reach all 64 districts."
However, an hour later, a revised itinerary omitted the names of six districts.
When asked why the program would not be held in those districts, Ashraf Mahdi, Joint Convener of the NCP, told Asia Post:
"This year's July March is primarily focused on promoting our candidates for the local government elections in the upazilas where we have fielded chairman candidates. We have additional programs planned throughout July. To ensure all of those can be carried out smoothly, it was not possible to schedule events in every upazila."
Last year, during the first anniversary, the NCP's march and street rally in Gopalganj triggered widespread clashes, leaving four people dead and more than one hundred injured.
Asked whether that incident influenced the decision not to hold a program in Gopalganj this year, Ashraf Mahdi said:
"We did not nominate any local government election candidate in Gopalganj. Had we fielded a candidate, we would have visited there. This year's decision not to hold a program there has no connection with last year's clashes. We also believe that those who supported the previous fascist regime are no longer as active as they were last year."
