BNP government betraying nation: Nahid Islam

National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener and Opposition Chief Whip Nahid Islam has alleged that the BNP government is deceiving the people and betraying the nation.
He said, "As you know, an election was held in Bangladesh, and in reality there were two elections. One of them was effectively a referendum, in which 70 percent of the people voted in favor of reforms. However, the BNP government is now rejecting both that referendum and the July Charter."
He made these remarks on Monday (July 6) while addressing the "July Revolution Grand Rally" as the chief guest in Kaliganj, Gazipur.
Addressing the Home Minister, Nahid Islam said, "Stop drug trafficking in Cox's Bazar and smuggling across the country, and ensure law and order nationwide. Our brother Sharif Osman Hadi sacrificed his life for freedom and for an independent and sovereign Bangladesh. Yet we continue to see the BSF killing ordinary people along the border, and we are witnessing push-ins across the frontier. The government must take immediate action to stop these incidents."
Among those who also addressed the rally were NCP Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain, Chief Organizer (Northern Region) Sarjis Alam, Central Joint Chief Organizer Advocate Ali Naser Khan, Gazipur District Convener M. M. Shoaib, Gazipur Metropolitan Member Secretary Abdullah Al Muhim, and Gazipur District Member Secretary Khandaker Al Amin, among others.
The speakers said that the "July March" began today from Kaliganj in Gazipur as part of the National Citizen Party's month-long program marking the second anniversary of the July Mass Uprising. They also demanded the immediate implementation of the July Charter, arguing that the people had endorsed it through the referendum.
