Assaulting July warriors an act of ingratitude: Dr. Shafiqur

Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami and Leader of the Opposition Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has said that attacking and assaulting the July warriors is an act of ingratitude.
He called on the government to stop what he described as the oppression of the July warriors.
The Jamaat chief made the remarks while addressing a discussion at the CIRDAP International Auditorium on Tuesday (4 August).
Dr. Shafiqur said, "If you (the government) assault and oppress the July agitators, it will be a grave act of ingratitude because this government is in power in exchange for the bloodshed and sacrifices of the July warriors."
He said many of the July warriors are still undergoing medical treatment both at home and abroad.
"I met some of them in Bangkok, Thailand. Several of them have suffered such severe eye injuries that they may never be able to see the light of day again," he said.
He added that Jamaat-e-Islami is ready to work toward building national unity.
Dr. Shafiqur also said that the contributions of everyone involved in the July uprising must be recognised.
